Dartford Ramblers was formed in 1992 with Gravesham added 4 years later.
Our membership consists of people from all walks of life who live not
only the two districts mentioned but also in Bexley and south east
London.
Our all-day walks take place on Sundays, and there are also frequent
Thursday morning walks which end with a pub lunch. In the summer
Saturday ‘breakfast’ walks are arranged, and occasional evening walks.
Our walking area generally covers anywhere within a 40 mile radius of
Dartford, with a variety of distances between 5 to 12 miles, and
including some figure of eight walks where ramblers can join for just
the first or second half if they wish. In such cases the second time
listed on the walks programme is for the start of the second half of the
walk. These are ideal for new walkers who want to get some practice in
before embarking on a longer distance!
We are a very friendly group and all new members are welcomed with
open arms. We accept that some people are trying out a new venture and
after six walks we consider that they like us enough to become permanent
members and play an active part by joining the Ramblers' Association.
Many personal friendships have evolved through the common interest of
walking.
We have a varied social calendar, including weekends away staying at
hotels and/or university campuses, Barn Dances, BBQ walks, Wine & Wisdom
evenings, Family Rambling Days and the most popular of all, the
Christmas Lunch Walk.
If you’re interested in coming along but not sure how to get to the
starting point, give us a ring.
