Walks Programme

Group News

Joining walks with Medway Ramblers is an easy way to discover the area without having to worry about planning a route or getting lost and is a good way to keep fit.

Medway has some outstandingly attractive walks which many local residents are unaware of and Medway Ramblers Group could introduce you to them.  We also walk in the beautiful areas of Kent and Sussex although rarely further away than a thirty miles radius from Medway.  Our walks vary in length between five and ten miles with the occasional walk that might be longer or shorter.  The walk programme always tells you the length of the walk as well as giving some idea of the stiles or hills you may meet.  Medway walks are always at a comfortable pace that an average fit person could manage.  You will find the people who walk with us are a friendly group who enjoy a good chat as they walk.  Except on the shortest walks we have a coffee or a snack-break/picnic and on longer walks sometimes both!

Our walks are mostly on Sundays starting in the morning.  Starting times can be found in the programme along with the name of the walk leader, the starting point and a contact number if you want to find out more about the walk or introduce yourself before hand.

The Group also organises a variety of social events. There is an annual Bat and Trap game (What's Bat & Trap? A remarkably easy going traditional Kentish pub game.).  Other events include visits to breweries and vineyards as well as occasional talks by specialists and professionals on walking related matters.  During the summer we arrange group walking holidays in conjunction with trusted professional organisations which you are welcome to join.

Medway Ramblers co-operate with Medway Council in organising footpath audits and footpath clearing but you don't have to take part in this in order to walk with the Group. We will be happy to see you to just join us in the walks that interest you.
