A Family
Cruise around the Solar System. Park and meet in the free car park
opposite The Bull PH, in Otford. Parking may be possible in this car
park, if not park in the station car park and walk back to the
sports ground car park. Allow time to find parking. A walk around
the village - a little out into the countryside - to find the
planets. Otford has the largest scale model of our solar system in
the world. Hopefully we will be joined by young budding astronauts
or astronomers who will make sure that we visit the planets in the
right order! The walk is flat and suitable for all-terrain buggies -
not the small wheeled 'about-the-town' buggies. Pub at
end. |

LINEAR
"BUS PASS" WALK ALONG THE MEDWAY: Meet promptly at Wateringbury
public car park off Bow Road near the traffic lights at 9.40am to
catch the 9.53am bus to Tonbridge. (Alternatively join the walk at
Tonbridge town lock (GR TQ595464) at about 10.20am and then return
to Tonbridge by bus at the end of the walk). Downhill all the way!
Walk follows the Medway from Tonbridge through mainly open
countryside, passing close to Hadlow and Yalding and ending at
Wateringbury. Distance is approximate due to difficulty of measuring
all bends in river. See river wildlife, some good views. If we walk
at a reasonable pace the lunch stop will be close to Tea Pot Island
and a picturesque riverside pub. Bring picnic lunch. Possible pub
stop midway. Pub at end. Do not forget your BUS PASS if you have
one. |
