Group News
We welcome new walkers, whether they have been members of other groups,
walked on holiday, just exercised the dog or ambled down to the shops.
However, most of our walks take 4 hours (plus an hour break midday) and
we average 10 miles. If you think this is too much for you, we recommend
that you start off your walking
by trying some of our shorter walks
( see our programme or call Rhona or Les for more information) or
you may
arrange to finish your first
few
walk at the halfway point
by asking a friend to pick you up at the lunch stop, after lunch of
course!
"All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards
associated with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the
safety of members always being the paramount concern, accidents will
occasionally occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into
the activity, each member appreciates that they have a responsibility to
identify the hazards associated with the activity and take all
reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the potential for an accident
to arise".
Request for Maps
If you have any current walking maps for the UK or abroad and you do not
require them any more, would you like to donate them to the White Cliffs
Ramblers where they can be of use to other walkers? Please
telephone Andrew Boultbee, our Librarian on 01227 831394.

Ted Roach has passed information on the Group's
October 2009 Isle of Wight Holiday to be held in the library.
White Cliffs Members can borrow this to look at accommodation used and
walk routes taken if they are considering a holiday there. See

Margaret Lubbock has done a great job of putting
together photographs of Group Rambles and Holidays that she has
previously displayed on the Group's website. These are now
available on disc for members to borrow and view and will be held in the
library as a record of some of our events. See link below.
